This past weekend, Halo LAX hosted the first National D3 Showcase of the 2021 season that featured more than 80 high school lacrosse prospects anticipating an athletic collegiate career. Players were alongside David Webster, men’s head lacrosse coach at Dickinson College, and 30 other coaches from colleges nationwide.
The showcase took place in the indoor turf dome at Iron Peak Sports & Events facility in Hillsborough, NJ. Players participated in group and individual position drills with coaches and later played in games against one another.
Events like these are designed to not only challenge young athletes to prove their athletic ability and secure an invitation to attend the College Invitational but to provide a more personal level of interaction with college coaches.
Coach Webster showed praise by saying, “There are not enough genuine opportunities for recruits to interact on the field with college coaches. This is at the heart of the Halo LAX National D3 showcase experience! Small numbers of high school players working directly with college coaches and then competing is what makes this event so unique and so much fun. College coaches really enjoy this environment and the players have been overwhelmingly positive and grateful for this format and style.”
By the end of the showcase, 40 players were selected by coaches to later play in the Fab 40 All-Star Game in addition to receiving an invitation to attend the College Invitational hosted by Halo LAX later this year. The invitational includes a collection of the top NCAA prospects in the nation.
